35 week appointment

So mommy had a doctors appointment today. And by the way she really likes her midwife. She is wonderful at answering questions and is very helpful. She told mommy that she is half a centimeter which isnt much but is something right? My heart beat is very strong and healthy and im head down and in positon. The nice doctor told mommy that it wouldnt be long after 37 weeks till i come. She made it sound like she thinks im gonna come early. I know mommy would really like that. And me too so i could meet my parents. But i dont think mommy is gonna get too excited about that cause who knows.

35 weeks!!!

I doen’t have much room to maneuver now that im over 18 inches long and tips the scales at 5 1/4 pounds (pick up a honeydew melon). Because it’s so snug in here, im not  likely to be doing somersaults anymore, but the number of times I kicks should remain about the same. My kidneys are fully developed now, and my liver can process some waste products. Most of my basic physical development is now complete — I’ll spend the next few weeks putting on weight.

Update on Mommy

So my mom is doing good. She feels good for the most part. She is starting to get very tierd which is normal. She is still working monday through thursday from about 8:45-4:30 Which can be a lot for her on some days but that is almost over as she is going on maturnity leave the week after Christmas which she is feeling very excited about. She is ready to rest.

Mom is not sleeping well at all. She can’t get comfortable at all. Some nights she is so tired that she will sleep ok but even on those nights she isnt sleep sound. Her good hours of sleep are from like 5 in the morning on but has to get up at like 7:30 so that doesnt really work. So she is excited to be able to start sleeping in.

She has been having some aches and pains but nothing too bad to complain about. Her ribs have started to ache which once again is totally normal but not to enjoyable. =) Her hips ache but she is good and really enjoying being pregnant and feeling me flip flop all the time. She says that is her favorite part feeling me move all over!!!

She has started feeling braxton hicks a lot..But my Grandma tells her that is a good thing. They have started getting more and more intense with each day. She is always having them. But she says that if that gets her ready for me to come then bring it on. Her and Daddy are getting very excited to meet me and im very excited to meet them. My daddy is doing a very good job taking care of me and mommy. He is going to be the best daddy ever. He already told mommy he wants me to sleep in my bassinet right beside his side of the bed. He is very excited.

34 weeks…..6 to go!!!!!!!

I now weighs about 4 3/4 pounds like your average cantaloupe and im almost 18 inches long. My fat layers — which will help regulate my body temperature once im born — are filling me out, making me rounder. My skin is also smoother than ever. My central nervous system is maturing and my lungs are continuing to mature as well. If moms been nervous about preterm labor, you’ll be happy to know that if im born between 34 and 37 weeks i will do fine. I may need a short stay in the neonatal nursery and may have a few short-term health issues, but in the long run, I will do as well as full-term babie.

33 weeks

This week I weigh a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. Im rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and my skeleton is hardening. The bones in my skull aren’t fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for me to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on my head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don’t entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as my brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

 

 

By now I weigh 3.75 pounds (pick up a large jicama) and im about 16.7 inches long, taking up a lot of space in my mommys uterus. Im gaining about a pound a week and roughly half of that goes right to me. In fact, i’ll gain a third to half of my birth weight during the next 7 weeks as I fatten up for survival outside the womb. I now have toenails, fingernails, and real hair (or at least respectable peach fuzz). My skin is becoming soft and smooth as I plump up in preparation for birth.
